Indian Wars era and Custer period arms, this early 1873 Trapdoor Carbine will almost certainly be the center piece in your collection. Obviously for whatever reason this carbine was never used and stored properly over the last 141 years. The bore as you can imagine remains in mint condition. The finish on this carbine still remains factory bright blued in color, the early breach block remains its early blackened finish, and the wood has never been sanded. The early long wrist stock is not drilled in back for the cleaning rods and is cartouched on the side ESA, and also bares its firing proof P in back of the triggerguard. It has all of its early parts and features specific to these early 1873 carbines. government which is extremely rare for these early carbines. Buttplate stamped 'U.S.' Barrel stamped with 'V P/Eagle proof' with a additional 'P', and 'R'. It has never been upgraded nor re-worked by the U.S. This is a Infantry Rifle that has been converted to carbine configuration. This carbine by serial number was manufactured in 1874 and remains in absolutely beautiful un-touched condition. In the 40+ years I have been collecting I have not seen a better condition early Custer era M-1873 Trapdoor Carbine, and there may not be a better one anywhere.
